About Us

Welcome to Gust of Wind and sharing our blog as we travel to all parts of the world

.Heres our story: My name is Paul Anley. After sailing around the Med every Summer for the past 6 years on our Beneteau Oceanis 50, we sold Wilson and bought Gust iof Wind. I had just sold my business in South Africa and reduced my work load allowing me to sail 4 months on at a time, and 4 months back in SA to attend to other businesses and catch up with family and friends. The idea was to complete a circumnavigation over several years.  Gust of Wind was based in France and after cruising the Balearics in 2015, decided that before leaving Europe, we would cruise the Baltic in 2016. At the begining of 2017, we planned to start our circumnavigation by joining the Arc from Las Palmas to St Lucia. But first we had to get Gust of Wind to the Canaries. We sailed the Bay of Biscay, the Spanish Rias, down the Portugese Coast and across to Madiera, and on to Teneriffe. We spent a month exploring the beautiful Canaries.
