After a few days in Deshaies waiting out a storm at sea with high waves, we took a walk over the mountain and along the coast. Long Sandy Beaches lined with coconut palms. Just what you would imagine of the Caribbean.
The following day, we hired a car for a squint through the interior. In particular we wanted to see the rainforest. First we did a canopy swing walk. Now, for someone afraid of heights, that was quite a feat. Some places almost 30m up and still midway up the trees in the canopy.
From there it was the rainforest. It was an absolute highlight with dense vegetation and orchids, ferns etc living high uo on the branches. I did find out why it is called a rainforest though. mud.... We slipped and slided the whole trail. Looking down more than up.
